But that’s ok.
Although I do like my Ranger much better than my e34. It was fun but just wasn’t the car for me.
Also at $1200 for the Ranger and $2750 for the BMW I’m getting a way better fun to money spent ratio, not to include how all the parts were so expensive on the 5 series.

You mean it’s dependable, practical, and well built? I agree.

All those things but also bland and ubiquitous.
I like the Camry, don’t get me wrong. They’re amazing cars in the sense that they do what people use cars for extremely well. But they are bland, as is the Ranger.

They’re a little on-the-nose post early 90s. Both the Ranger and the Camry.

I’d say they’ve got a little bit more personality. Just a little. They have the small truck thing dialed in, though. A family member’s work truck was a 4WD ‘02 Ranger and when they swapped him for a Ridgeline I was all “BRING BACK THE RANGER”. It was the difference between a mild-mannered work pony and a very large and attractive beef cow with some training for pulling an oxcart.

I mean the Camry has midsized sedan dialed in. And they do have some personality. But I see what you’re saying, they are more loved overall for what they are. RWD/ 4WD might also have something to do with it.

I put countless miles on Rangers and their Mazda B2300 clones when I did courier work in Maine. I couldn’t agree more. And I say that as a good thing. Too bad they’ve pretty much all rusted out around here at this point.

Except that you will be able to buy Camrys forever, whereas at least for us in the US you can no longer get a Ranger, or for that matter any other brand of comparable small pickup. So that enhanced Rangers from “meh, OK but there are lots of cars I’m more interested in” to “wow, those filled their niche so well, and now nothing does, maybe I should have been more interested when they were still in reach.”
